Pure Harry Eden
Monday, May 12th, 2008Harry Eden is an up-and-coming British actor with a taste for the difficult roles. He wants his career to be full of challenges, and wouldn’t enjoy playing, say, Harry Potter.
A prime example of his dedication to hard roles is his part as Paul in the 2002 British movie Pure. Playing a 10-year-old boy, Eden is forced to care for his mother, a drug addict who recently lost a drug-dealing friend. As he cares for his mother and younger brother, Paul is forced to confront the fear that, having lost his father several years prior, he may also lose his mother, either to addiction or abandonment. As all this is happening Paul befriends a pregnant drug addict (played by Keira Knightley) who helps him through the experience.
Lauded for his performance in Pure, Harry Eden won a Manfred Salzgeber Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and a British Independent Film Award in 2003.
